Our Story: Heritage, Heart, and First-Generation Grit

A Foundation in the Soil (Since 2008)

Our journey into agriculture didn’t begin with a deed, but with a philosophy. Since 2008, we have been immersed in the regenerative agriculture movement—studying, gardening, and running small-scale projects to master the vital relationship between soil health and animal vitality.

After 15 years of honing our holistic approach, we relocated to Sam’s Valley in late 2023. Today, in the shadow of the Table Rocks, we are building Mini Shire Farm: a first-generation legacy rooted in transparency and intentional breeding.

The Herd: Bred for Resilience

We don’t just raise animals; we curate genetics that thrive in our Southern Oregon climate. Our herd is a unique tapestry of heritage charm and modern efficiency:

  • Brahman Influence: We are intentionally breeding Brahman genetics into our beef lines—including our Hereford x Brahman, Jersey x Brahman, Wagyu x Brahman (Bragyu), and Shorthorn x Brahman crosses. This introduces vital heat and insect tolerance, ensuring our cattle stay healthy in the Oregon summers while reaching market weight efficiently.

  • Genetic Innovation: We are eagerly awaiting our first Shorthorn x Brahman calves. Alongside our Mini Highlands and Mini Herefords, we are building a "climate-smart" beef program designed for both resilience and quality.

  • The Shire: Our farm is rounded out by our fluffy Babydoll Southdown sheep, and Angora Goats.

Artisan Provisions for the Community

We believe in food that is nutrient-dense, transparently raised, and accessible to our neighbors.

  • Specialty Bragyu Beef: We offer a versatile beef program tailored to the animal and the customer. From 100% Grass-Fed to optional Grain-Finishing, we match our finish to your preference for flavor and marbling.

  • Milk-Fed Meishan Pork: Our heritage Meishan pigs are Pasture-Raised and Milk-Fed, resulting in an incredibly creamy, well-marbled pork that is a true farm delicacy.

  • A2/A2 Raw Milk: Provided today by our Jersey cows via our herdshare program.

  • Pasture-Raised Poultry: Our eclectic group of heritage and hybrid layers produces a colorful dozen of eggs. We also raise Cornish Cross chickens on pasture—a choice we make to keep costs down so we can provide high-quality, affordable meat to our community. We also raise that Thanksgiving Turkey for your Holiday Table.

Transparent. Natural. Holistic. 🌿

We aren't a "certified organic" farm by design. We choose natural, holistic methods that allow our land and animals to thrive according to the rhythms of nature. Whether you are here for a Highland Hug, a hands-on Workshop, or your weekly provisions, you are seeing first-generation grit in action.
